In today's fast paced
world of marketing, a company hires a race team to diversify marketing
efforts and provide a personal link to consumers. The team's task is to
expose the company name to thousands of spectators at a time when all of
their senses are reclined. Later, as the crowds tour the pits they
are able to get up close and meet the people responsible for giving them
this adrenaline rush. They may ask some questions about the car,
and possibly even sit in it and imagine for themselves. All the
while the sponsor's company name is everywhere they look. They
even refer to the car by the sponsor's name. After they have spent
twenty minutes asking questions, getting autograph's, imaging themselves
hurdling down the quarter mile at speeds several times faster than they
have ever driven, they remember one thing. It's not how many RPMs the
engine turns or the g-forces the driver experiences when leaving the
line, or even the cost of one of those huge rear tires. They remember
the company's name on the car that gave them the awe inspiring glimpses
into a world that they can't help but think of several times a day for
weeks after. That's advertising you can't get anywhere else but in motorsports marketing.
With
your company logo on our racecar, tow vehicle, and trailer, it will
allow your company to reach into a new and exciting market with whom you
currently may have little visibility. Our dedicated race team is committed on the track and that same commitment will
advance the image of your company's
product, improving sales, advancing your goals, and fostering community involvement.
Racing will be a small part of our relationship. As we travel the
Mid-Atlantic,
our race team's top priority is always to be professional in
representing your company as we speak with the fans and the public. As
a community service vehicle for your company, we will work directly with
your representatives to go into the community in places such as schools, shows,
exhibits, fundraisers, grand openings, etc. and promote your product to the
public.
The Drag
Racing Market
In 2005, over $7,000,000 was awarded in prizes to
racers at NHRA tracks participating in local ET Racing Series
across the U.S. More
than 100 companies add contingency postings and
several invested tens of millions of dollars in professional race teams.
All of
these companies must be getting a good return on their investment.
What target market do they reach?
Reach and
Frequency
Drag racing sponsors receive exposure at many different times through
different means. At the race itself, the car appears on the track and in
the pits in front of a live audience. Internet and print media coverage of the event
increases the reach of the live event. The race cars serve as "billboards"
when flying the color of various sponsoring companies and their truck
and trailer tow vehicles present continuing sponsor identification at
race tracks and even while traveling on the highways across the country.
Drag
racing is a unique form of auto racing, in that the fans are able to get
"up close and personal" with their heroes. Fans are encouraged to buy a
pit pass and watch the teams between rounds of competition. They can get
an autograph, look at the engine, and even talk to the racers and crew
members. T-shirt sales play a significant role in merchandising the race
teams and sponsors as well.
Demographics
Drag racing delivers an upscale audience with above-average
discretionary income. Companies that establish a foothold in drag racing
can influence the buying habits of the much sought-after 18-35 year old
males, who stay with the sport throughout their entire lives. 80% of the
fans say they are favorably influenced by companies that are drag racing
sponsors.
